The Bollywood actor has become the target of caustic online attack for her role in video
If you are on any form of social media, you would have likely stumbled upon the recent video starring Deepika Padukone on women’s empowerment. The video was released jointly by Deepika and director Homi Adajania in association with Vogue India as part of their campaign on women’s empowerment.
In the last two days alone, ‘My Choice’ has garnered over four lakh views, but has also raised a few eyebrows in the online world. The short film has 99 women – most of them celebrities – talking about the choices they make in their life challenging a highly patriarchal society.
The video has generated strong opinions from men and women: while some believe that it’s message is truly feminist, others feel it represents only a small segment of privileged women. More troublingly however, the Bollywood actor has become the target of caustic online attack for her role in the short film. Not surprisingly, #MyChoice is now trending on Twitter.
